Towards the Crags

Earth pigment and oil paint on sewn Strathberry leather off-cuts, 23x31cm.

This work came from a collaboration with Strathberry bags. I was inspired by Strathberry’s commitment to handcrafted items, and their recent repurposing of waste materials from the wine-making industry to create a leather alternative. This kind of circular, sustainable process is integral to my work and for this exhibition, I’ve integrated some off-cuts from Strathberry’s workshop. Stitching together these remnant textiles to create the base for painting, embeds the stories of these materials within the landscape of the work.

Towards the Crags depicts an abstracted view of Edinburgh from Arthur's Seat.
