Mountain Pass (Cairngorm)

Pencil and oil paint on mixed materials, 20x30cm.

This painting evolved from sketches made whilst on residency in the Cairngorms in April 2021. Approaching the edge of the plateau to Ben MacDui, you see the depth and converging lines of the Lairig Ghru pass. I was taken by the angles of the slopes and colourings of the landscape.

This painting has been shown in 'HERE: Between you and the world', an exhibition on landscape as a process, and active being rather than a passive view to be copied and represented. The show was at PoP Gallery, Brisbane, Queensland, AUS.
