From the Coalheugh Well

Monoprint and Earth Pigments on canvas, 10x100cm.

This painting evolved from my time in Cromarty, during a Royal Scottish Academy Residency. The Coalheugh Well is the product of an early 19th century trial bore hole, but instead of finding coal the drilling released natural spring mineral water. The heading mineral content colours the rocks surround the well a beautiful red colour, which is evoked in this painting. 

From the Coalheugh Well is currently on display at The Old Brewery, Cromarty Arts Trust, on sale for £400.
