Cairngorm Mountain Pass II

Pencil and oil paint on mixed materials, 27x26cm. 

This painting evolved from sketches made whilst on residency in the Cairngorms in April 2021. Approaching the edge of the plateau to Ben MacDui, you see the depth and converging lines of the Lairig Ghru pass. I was taken by the angles of the slopes and colourings of the landscape half coloured in snow.

This work is currently in the 123rd Society of Scottish Artists Annual Exhibition at the Royal Scottish Academy. 1st-23rd November 2021.
