NY Aerial

Oil and household paint on mixed materials, 150x182cm.

In my City Series of 2018, I was focused on the aerial viewpoint; looking down into the urban environment with thought relating to space, distance and relationships between those living in the city and their surrounding landscape.

Through writing and photography, I develop a colour palette both looking closely at the colours existent within the landscape that I am drawing from, and responding intuitively to colours already existent within the painting.

This painting was chosen for the 2017 ESAF exhibition at the Edinburgh City Arts Centre and was awarded Second Place in the 2018 Astaire Art Prize, Edinburgh College of Art.
